Painting & Coating

Paint in an industrial setting isn't about color — it's about protection. Corrosion, chemical attack, abrasion, UV degradation, and extreme temperatures all work against your equipment and structures every single day. The right coating system applied the right way stops that clock. We handle everything from surface preparation to final inspection, making sure what goes on stays on.

Industrial Painting

A fresh coat of paint makes things look better, but that's a side benefit — the real goal is keeping steel from rusting, concrete from spalling, and equipment from deteriorating. We apply industrial-grade coating systems designed for the specific environment they're going into, whether that's an interior process area with chemical exposure or an outdoor structure facing Indiana winters.

Typical applications:

  • Structural steel — beams, columns, bracing, and support frames

  • Process equipment — vessels, reactors, heat exchangers

  • Piping systems — above-ground and exposed process piping

  • Storage tanks — interior and exterior, including containment areas

  • Handrails, ladders, grating, and access structures

We spray, roll, or brush depending on the surface geometry and the coating — always prioritizing the method that gives the best coverage and the strongest bond.

Protective Coatings

Corrosion is the slow-motion disaster that costs industry billions every year. We fight it with multi-coat protective systems engineered for the specific corrosive environment — atmospheric, immersion, chemical splash, or below-grade.

Coating systems we work with:

  • Epoxy — high-build, chemical-resistant, the backbone of industrial protection

  • Polyurethane — UV-resistant topcoats for exterior exposure

  • Zinc-rich primers — cathodic protection for steel in aggressive environments

  • High-temperature coatings — for surfaces operating above ambient, up to extreme service temperatures

  • Tank linings — immersion-grade systems for internal protection

We don't guess at dry film thickness or surface profile. We measure it. Every coat gets checked, every spec gets met, and if something's off, we catch it before the next layer goes down.

Surface Preparation

You can put the best coating in the world on a poorly prepared surface and it'll fail — guaranteed. We put the time and the right equipment into surface prep because skipping steps here is the most expensive shortcut you can take.

Preparation methods we use:

  • Abrasive blasting — from brush-off to near-white and white metal standards

  • Power tool cleaning — needleguns, grinders, sanders for spot repair and touch-up

  • Chemical stripping — for surfaces where blasting isn't practical

  • High-pressure water jetting — UHP systems when dry blasting isn't an option

  • Hand tool cleaning — for tight spaces and detail work

We work to SSPC and NACE standards, and we verify surface profile and cleanliness before a single drop of coating gets applied. If the spec calls for SSPC-SP10 near-white blast, that's what you get — not something close to it.

Environmental Controls

Blasting and spraying create dust, overspray, and debris that don't belong in your facility — especially around operating equipment, sensitive processes, or food-grade environments. We build containment systems that keep our work where it belongs: negative-pressure enclosures, dust collection, full containment for lead and hazardous coating removal. Your production floor shouldn't look like a war zone just because we're painting.

Why Choose Team Work Industrial Services?

Coatings are one of those investments where you don't see the return on day one — you see it two years later when your steel isn't rusting and your tank isn't leaking. We build every coating system with that timeline in mind. The prep work is thorough, the application is precise, and the inspection is honest.

We also know you're probably not shutting down the whole facility for a paint job. We work around production, we isolate work areas, and we phase the job so you stay operational. It takes more planning on our end, but it's how industrial work actually gets done — not in an empty building with unlimited time, but in a real facility that has to keep running.

If you've got steel that needs protection, a tank that needs lining, or a structure that's losing the fight against corrosion, call us. We'll walk the site, spec the right system, and get it done.
